BOAT LIFT
The boat lift strap issues have been resolved and regular maintenance has been scheduled to proactively get ahead of future maintenance issues.
If you encounter any issues at the lift, email Tiffany Sullivan and our Waterways Director so we can address the issues quickly!
WATER CLARITY & AERATOR REPAIRS
The board recently approved the replacement of some of the aerators within the lake systems. This will take time (the initial installation took over a year!) so please be patient. Phase one includes the aerators by the boat lift which have been down since the hurricane and phase two are the aerators in the Bayport canals. It is also important to note that although you may have an inoperable aerator near you, when the aerators were originally installed, they added more than are actually required. By maintaining them in due course, in phases, we are still well within the advised amounts per our nationally recognized lake management company.
It is important to note that the Sunset Lake aerators were recently hit by a propeller in the shallow portion of the lake (the Northeast corner) which caused significant, and completely avoidable damage. We ask all boaters remain vigilant and monitor your depth throughout our waterways to avoid unnecessary and costly repairs such as this.
Dog Park Repairs via Community Grant
The board has been requesting ideas for our community's 2027 Hillsborough County Grant request and repairs to the Hatteras Park Dog Park are currently top of the list. The grant can only be used for projects that are not otherwise necessary but will enhance the community. The grant is for $5,000 and requires volunteer commitment, so step up and help us improve this wonderful amenity for our 4 legged friends!
Have other ideas for the grant? Contact the appropriate director so they can bring it up to the board! The grant submission is due in November.
Community Rules Review
As an ongoing process to make sure our Community Rules are fair and unambiguous, a Community Rules Review Committee has been reviewing our existing rules and identifying areas that need updating. The committee is made up of volunteers but there is always room for more! To get involved or simply share your thoughts on areas of improvement, email the Communications Director.
When the rules are drafted and ready for board approval, there will be an open general membership meeting for additional community comments. Keep an eye out for the mailer with the date and time!
Tennis court wind breaks are going to be replaced shortly after the last few strong storms damaged the old wind break fabrics.
Additionally, the Basketball courts have been severely damaged by e-bikes and dirt bikes recently. The board voted to add the repairs to the upcoming budget for next year along with a comprehensive repairs to repaint and texture the tennis courts.
